Three bankrupt retailers are offering their software over the web

Some retailers--or at least ex-retailers--are finding yet more uses for the web. Montgomery Ward, Service Merchandise and Heilig-Meyers, all bankrupt retailers, are auctioning licensing rights to their software at Bid4Assets.com.

The software, which cost the three retailers collectively $30 million to acquire, includes licenses for applications such as CRM, database management, security and more. Bid4Assets says all licenses are current within the last 12 months, and where maintenance is not up to date, the value of bringing the software current will be deducted from the winning bid. Licenses are from vendors such as Cisco, BMC, GT Software, Information Builders, Informix, PeopleSoft, Siemens and Vertex.

The auction will run through Sept. 26. "We are very pleased to offer such a huge inventory of software and licenses online," said Bid4Assets Vice President of Marketing Jenny Monroe. "This sale gives businesses the opportunity to purchase the software they need to grow at competitive prices."
