An online soccer store branches out
San Diego Soccer Development Corp. is broadening the product selection at its online store and has reached a deal with a major soccer portal to help promote the merchandise.
San Diego Soccer Development, owner of the San Diego Flash, an A League professional soccer team, and publisher of a soccer fan magazine called 90:00 Minutes, will use eCatalogorder.com to host the site. Ecatalogorder is an e-commerce company that specializes in online electronic catalogs and ordering systems for small and mid-sized companies.
Until now, Soccer Development Corp. has sold equipment and instructional merchandise. It now will offer a full line of soccer-related merchandise, selling not only supplies for players and instructional material but also logo and soccer-themed merchandise for fans, Yan Skwara, president and CEO, tells InternetRetailer.com.
Skwara says Soccer Development hopes to use its relationships with soccer leagues to develop merchandise to sell at the online store.
Soccer Development will market the products through its magazine and via e-mails to fans. Soccer Development already sells the Locust Sports line of soccer equipment. “There’s a large market for soccer equipment and merchandise online and we’re just looking for a piece of the pie,” Skwara says.
Soccer Development also has reached agreement for soccer portal Soccer-Fiesta.com to host a link to the store. Soccer Development in return will host a link to the portal.
