Systemax Q3 web sales approach $200 million

Systemax Inc., which owns and operates TigerDirect.com, posted web sales of $195.5 million in the third quarter. The company, No. 23 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, didn’t break out e-commerce sales for Q3 2005.

Overall the web represented 34% of all Q3 sales, which totaled $575 million. “Our Internet sales continued their growth pattern,” says chairman and CEO Richard Leeds. “Internet sales are the most efficient way to serve our customers and have contributed to our increased operating profit without significant additional costs.”

Though it didn’t break out specific numbers for TigerDirect.com, Systemax says the site accounted for strong growth in the company’s overall U.S. personal computer and accessories market. “The sales growth of North American computer products during the third quarter of 2006 was due in large part to the strength of our e-commerce efforts and also reflects the success of our strategy of expanding product offerings,” says Tiger Direct president Gilbert Fiorentino.
