LAWSON FEATURED IN IBM MERCHANT REACH RETAIL OFFERING

Strategic Alliance Partners Build on 20 Years Experience

ST. PAUL, Minn., June 24, 2002 - Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced its new role in the IBM MerchantReach™ offering for the retail sector.

MerchantReach enables customers and business partners to leverage integrated multichannel retailing by using existing applications or those from business partners that have chosen to enable their applications through MerchantReach and Websphere® technology. Lawson will provide its back-office suite of solutions so that, together with IBM, they will offer retailers a comprehensive and integrated back-office and front-office solution.

Lawson and IBM have defined six core business areas for retailers - Financials, Distribution, Human Resources, Store Operations, Merchandising, and Marketing. Together with IBM and its MerchantReach offering, Lawson can provide retailers with the software, hardware, services and financing they need to effectively and efficiently run their businesses.

"By expanding our offerings with IBM in the retail space, retailers now have a very broad spectrum of solutions with which to run their businesses," said Carol Mackenzie, vertical market director for Lawson.

With this offering, Lawson provides the core back-office suites for Financials, Distribution and Human Resources. IBM, through its existing MerchantReach program based on the IBM Websphere platform, enables its customers and business partners to leverage integrated multichannel retailing by using existing or business partner applications through the MerchantReach and Websphere technology.

"For those retailers that need it, Lawson applications combined with IBM MerchantReach solutions can provide retailers with the comprehensive and integrated set of applications necessary to compete in today`s increasingly competitive business environment," said Gail Stremlo, IBM retail segment executive. "Even better, though, is the fact that we`re able to offer these tools in a flexible way so retailers can also leverage their existing IT investments - purchasing only the specific components they need at any given time."

According to Retail Info Systems (RIS) News` Leaderboard 2001 study of the 50 top software companies serving retail, Lawson is the leading enterprise software provider to the retail industry. Lawson`s industry-focused software solutions enable retailers to easily integrate the systems they use to run and grow their businesses. These solutions provide financial information and analysis needed to increase profit margins, and solutions to manage inventory flow and the employee "hire to retire" process. Lawson customers include 23 of the top 100 restaurant chains, 20 of the top 100 specialty chains, eight of the top 20 apparel retailers, seven of the top 25 grocery chains and five of the top 10 U.S.-based retailers.
