-Alliance Solution Offers Increased Efficiency and Reduced Costs By
Facilitating the Expansion of Electronic Trading Communities -
Edison, NJ and St. Paul, MN - June 26, 2002 - EasyLink Services
Corporation (NASDAQ: EASY), a leading global provider of services that
power the exchange of information between enterprises, their trading
communities and their customers, today announced that the Company has
formed a strategic partnership with SPS Commerce, the leading supply
chain integration service provider, to offer a comprehensive solution
for enterprises to grow their electronic trading communities.
In January, EasyLink announced a plan to increase the accessibility of
its transaction delivery services through the introduction of Web-based
EDI to enable transactions between large enterprises and small- to
mid-sized companies in their trading and customer communities,
increasing the number of companies they conduct business with
electronically. Even today, only about 20 percent of enterprise trading
relationships are electronic, with the balance maintained via telephone,
fax, and postal mail.
EasyLink has teamed with SPS Commerce to address this market need,
taking advantage of SPS` focus and proven success in providing
integration services to the SME marketplace. The solution encompasses
both network services such as Web EDI and professional services that
project the partners` substantial experience in enabling electronic
commerce at companies of all sizes. EasyLink and SPS bring the
well-known benefits of EDI such as fast, error-free, paperless
transaction delivery available to the entirety of a larger corporation`s
trading community through low-cost, customized easy-to-use network
services.
The core network offering is Web EDI, which replaces costly, slow and
inefficient paper-based processes that create barriers to entry for SMEs
into electronic commerce with an economical easy-to-use Web interface
that bridges the gap between companies with disparate levels of
technological infrastructure and sophistication. Small companies can now
do business electronically with large companies, without requiring the
substantial people and systems investments of typical EDI user
environments. Just as importantly, EasyLink and SPS Commerce offer
customers complete implementation support to ensure that the benefits of
the solution are realized quickly and completely.
EasyLink has over 15 years of experience in providing EDI Network
Services and is one of the pioneers of IP EDI services, while SPS
provides leading-edge browser-based EDI conversion technologies, and
proven methodologies for converting large trading communities from
manual to electronic transactions.
Frank Graziano, EasyLink Senior Vice President of Corporate
Development, noted, "Strategic alliances allow us to bring complementary
value-added services and new distribution channels to our transaction
management solutions portfolio. Through our partnerships with companies
such as SPS, we are able to offer faster deployment of new services at
the early stages of their life cycles while sharing risks as well as
rewards."
Graziano added, "As a recognized leader in providing supply chain
integration services, SPS is the ideal partner for the development of
EasyLink`s Web-EDI solutions. Its breadth of services, industry
expertise and go-to-market solutions will enable us to provide the most
efficient transaction delivery services for enterprises of all sizes."
According to Jim Frome, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy
Officer of SPS Commerce, "We are excited to be joining forces with
EasyLink. Not only does this partnership enable us to offer a joint
solution for companies of all sizes to expand trading community growth
by using the Internet, it showcases our expertise and ability to help
companies like EasyLink solve the SME integration hurdle common to many
companies in the supply chain market."
