PATAGONIA TO BASE ONLINE RETAIL OPERATIONS AT EQUINIX DATA CENTER

Outdoor Gear Retailer to Leverage Aggregation of Networks and High-Performance Environment in Equinix`s Neutral IBX Center

Foster City, CA - September 13, 2004 - Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, today announced that Patagonia, Inc., the outdoor gear and apparel company, will locate the infrastructure supporting e-commerce operations for the company`s Web site at an Equinix Internet Business Exchange™ (IBX®) center in Los Angeles. As a part of the agreement, Patagonia will operate and expand its award-winning, on-line retail business within a highly secure and reliable environment that offers access to all of the major network service providers.

Patagonia designs, markets and distributes outdoor clothing, gear, accessories and luggage under the Patagonia, Lotus Designs and Water Girl brands. The company`s merchandise is available through specialty retailers and Patagonia stores, as well as through the company`s catalog and Web site (www.patagonia.com).

At Equinix`s Los Angeles Internet hub, Patagonia will have direct access to every top network, offering the widest possible choice of connectivity services and providers. By operating within the same physical space as many of these strategic connectivity partners, Patagonia can implement a more streamlined path between their Web site content and e-commerce operations and their end-users, resulting in higher performance and reliability. It also provides Patagonia with a strong breadth of choices for backup networks in the event of a service interruption to a primary provider.

"We have a reputation for high-quality merchandise and great customer service," said Craig Wilson, Patagonia`s director of eCommerce. "Ensuring that our customers` on-line experience reflects what they have come to expect from Patagonia is a high priority. Equinix provides us with the security, network availability and flexibility to achieve reliable operations."

"Patagonia represents an important market validation of Equinix`s ability to serve the mission-critical operations of retailers that count on e-commerce for a healthy percentage of their revenues," said Peter Van Camp, CEO of Equinix. "Our network neutral business model combined with world-class quality centers provide performance-driven companies such as Patagonia with the most secure, redundant, cost-effective and flexible colocation solutions available in the industry today."
