CHICAGO (July 10, 2002) Transora, the consumer products industrys consortium trading exchange, today announced that it is the first B2B exchange to receive certification for UCCnets Foundation Services Release 2.1. New features enabled by this UCCnet upgrade coincide with recent enhancements to Transoras Data Catalogue, offering Transora customers access to the industrys only fully integrated item catalogue and registry service available today.
Combined with the newest features offered by UCCnet, the Transora Data Catalogue now offers customers greater flexibility in managing their item information. Through Transoras Preferred Alliance Partnership with UCCnet, Transora customers are not required to make any changes to their own internal systems in order to use the new capabilities. Instead, Transora incorporated UCCnets upgrades into its own platform giving its customers immediate access to the latest enhancements while also ensuring seamless integration with future upgrades as they are implemented.
Additionally, with the newest release of Transoras Data Catalogue, Transora customers now have direct access to several new catalogue reports that help customers streamline their item management processes.
According to David Hutchings, Senior Director for Enterprise Integration at Kraft Foods North America, the combination of Transora and UCCnet is a key component of the companys strategy for global item data synchronization.
“At Kraft, weve made the decision to use Transora as a global repository for item data and to support the UCCnet GLOBALregistry as well,” Hutchings noted. “Creating a system-of-record process enables Kraft to support our customers needs. Use of Transora as our connectivity point eliminates the need for us to maintain individual connections with the dozens of country data pools that exist today.”
Kraft Foods is one of the first Transora customers to take advantage of these capabilities, in addition to other leading manufacturers such as Procter & Gamble and Reckitt Benckiser. More than 10 consumer products companies have subscribed to Transoras Data Catalogue service, representing approximately 40% of industry trading volume.
“The unique integrated catalogue/registry solution that UCCnet and Transora offer is clearly acknowledged as the industrys number-one solution for global item data synchronization,” said Ken Fleming, Transoras chief operations and development officer. “Bringing retailers and manufacturers together is one of the core values Transora represents, and we are pleased to offer continuous enhancements to improve these relationships.”
UCCnet, a not-for-profit organization that provides item registry and data synchronization for electronic commerce based on industry-developed standards, developed its Release 2.1 with input from Transora and other members of the UCCnet User Advisory Council. Transora Data Catalogue customers subscribe to UCCnet services to validate their item information before synchronizing it with their retail customers.
“As the industrys global item registry source, UCCnet has been pleased with its Transora alliance,” noted Fred Geiger, senior vice president of product management for UCCnet. “The combined strength of our services and organizations is delivering significant value to the CPG industry today and laying the groundwork for new levels of collaborative commerce in the future.”
