Office Depot’s web sales grow 35% worldwide while total sales grow 4%
Worldwide web-based sales at Office Depot Inc. grew 35% in the third quarter from last year’s third quarter to $542.9 million, the company reported today. Companywide sales in the quarter grew 4% to $2.9 billion. E-commerce sales accounted for 18.7% of all sales, up from 14.4% a year ago.
For the first nine months, web sales grew 35% to $1.5 billion while total sales grew 3% to $8.5 billion. The web accounted for 17.6% of all sales in the first nine months. The company says it remains on track to exceed $2 billion in web sales this year.
Operating income in Q3 increased 41% from last year Q3 to $142.1 million. Nine-month operating income grew 44% to $397.8 million.
Office Depot operates 20 web sites around the world.
