La-Z-Boy launches new online furniture design center

La-Z-Boy Inc. has enhanced its online customers’ ability to design their own furniture online with new technology from provider Scene7. The nation’s largest manufacturer of upholstered furniture initially launched a web-based design-your-own-furniture system last year with technology from provider Intellitek. With its relaunched site, La-Z-Boy becomes the first web furniture retailer to use both Scene7`s dynamic imaging platform that allows visitors to swap out different fabrics and furniture frames online, plus Scene7’s new room layout capabilities that let shoppers place furniture within a 2D layout.

“Visitors can use their creativity to design furniture, then share their renderings with friends and family members before making any final decisions,” says Doug Collier, vice president of marketing at La-Z-Boy.

The new La-Z-Boy site also offers decorating tips from design experts, improved photo quality furniture renderings, and instant communication with local dealers. Once visitors have designed and saved their customized furniture renderings to the site, they can send them to a La-Z-Boy furniture gallery store, La-Z-Boy in-store gallery or authorized dealer for purchase. The site also stores style preferences registered by the shopper on previous visits.
