Ensenda signs eight new same-day delivery deals

San Francisco-based same-day delivery service Ensenda Inc. signed eight new clients in the third quarter, the company reported today. The contracts are for deliveries from stores, but most are looking at future same-day delivery from web sites and several deals with web retailers are pending, president and CEO Chris Mannella tells InternetRetailer.com.

Among the new agreements is one to provide deliveries from more than 100 Home Depot Inc. stores in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Others include deals with Interstate All Battery Centers, Follett Higher Education Group, Sur La Table, Anthropologie, and Select Western Ltd. and Select Laser Ltd., both operating in Canada, and a pilot deal with Sony of Canada.

In addition, Ensenda is expanding its delivery services with FAO Inc. from a seven-store pilot to 255 stores of FAO’s brands--FAO Schwarz, The Right Start and Zany Brainy.

“The breadth of these arrangements speaks to the appeal of our service,” Mannella says.

Ensenda’s same-day delivery is based on a network of 120 independent courier services who receive orders from Ensenda, then execute delivery. To participate, a courier service must be able to receive orders via the web and then meet certain performance standards.
