SPS COMMERCE PROVIDES HOSTED ELECTRONIC INTEGRATION SERVICES TO MEASUREMENT SPECIALTIES, INC.
Designer and Manufacturer of Sensors and Sensor-Based Consumer Products to Utilize Hosted EDI Services
Saint Paul, Minn., Sept. 27, 2004 – SPS Commerce, the leading Supply Chain Integration Service provider, today announced an agreement with Measurement Specialties, Inc. (AMEX: MSS), to provide the designer and manufacturer of sensor-based consumer products with SPS Commerce’s File Integration and WebForms services to electronically trade with their retail customers. SPS Commerce’s File Integration service will allow Measurement Specialties, Inc. (MSI) to extend their MANMAN system into a fully functional EDI trading system for use with their biggest customers. In addition, MSI will utilize SPS Commerce’s hosted WebForms to exchange electronic information with some of their lower order volume customers.
MSI designs and manufactures industrial sensors and sensor-based consumer products. MSI Sensors uses multiple technologies to engineer precise, cost-effective sensors for demanding applications in the medical, automotive, aerospace, industrial and consumer products sectors. The company also makes OEM bathroom scales and Accutire® brand tire pressure gauges. MSI already conducts EDI transactions with high-volume retailers, as well as several lower-volume retailers also vital to their business. The recent consolidation of MSI’s consumer and industrial divisions under a common ERP system, and the desire for consistent processes with high- and low-volume partners, called for a flexible and comprehensive EDI solution to resolve the disparate levels of EDI capability among partners.
“SPS Commerce was the clear choice in our search for an EDI interface to our business system,” said Terry Simpkins, Director ISIT of Measurement Specialties, Inc. “All of our major trading partners are already connected to SPS, and they were able to readily integrate with our backend accounting system, offering a truly seamless transition for everyone involved. We will be more attractive to both existing and new retailers, while reaping the benefits of electronic commerce.”
Through SPS Commerce’s suite of hosted services, MSI can streamline and unify its internal electronic infrastructure while conducting purchase and invoice document exchange with trading partners at all levels of EDI capability, reducing the economic and process burdens inherent in paper, phone, and fax transactions without a heavy technology investment for either party.
“SPS Commerce’s wide variety of hosted transaction services makes us the ideal solution provider for a company with a range of EDI needs like Measurement Specialties,” said Archie Black, CEO of SPS Commerce. “We look forward to providing the speed, flexibility and power of our suite of services to similar manufacturers that encounter a variety of e-commerce challenges.”
