AAFES to Implement Triversity’s Transactionware Enterprise POS Solution at Over 1,000 Stores Worldwide
Transactionware Enterprise will run in three different
store formats; pilot project to begin in 2005
TORONTO – Sept. 27, 2004 – Triversity Inc., the fastest growing international provider of customer-centric retail solutions, today announced that the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) has selected Transactionware Enterprise as its next-generation point-of-sale (POS) solution. Transactionware Enterprise will replace a DOS and Windows version of Triversity’s Transactionware GM POS software that AAFES has used since 1996.
AAFES will implement Transactionware Enterprise at more than 1,000 stores in three different formats worldwide, including general retail (up to 50 checkout lanes), gasoline/convenience, grocery and specialty stores. A pilot project is scheduled to begin in 2005. Transactionware Enterprise will not only allow AAFES to deploy the most cost-effective and reliable Java POS solution to over 30 countries worldwide, but will drive the company into the future of enterprise POS with a next-generation J2EE solution.
“As a complex, global retailing organization operating in multiple time zones around the world, AAFES is an ideal retailer for Transactionware Enterprise,” said David Thomas, president and CEO, Triversity Inc. “Transactionware Enterprise’s J2EE architecture allows total flexibility of deployment and significant cost savings. AAFES can reduce costs of store-level data management, software deployment, overall support and infrastructure costs, and server management, while reducing the number of in-store servers. Transactionware Enterprise will also enable AAFES to accelerate the worldwide delivery of new POS-related applications.”
Transactionware Enterprise is the most cost-effective, easily deployable J2EE solution available today for POS and Point-of-Interaction applications, and is the first and only Java POS solution designed from the ground up to harness the power of J2EE. Its highly scalable, open architecture allows retailers to deploy solutions ranging from true thin-client to thick-client systems, on up to massively scalable enterprise server environments that handle billions of transactions per year.
“The architecture of Transactionware Enterprise matched AAFES’ vision for flexible, scalable and agile POS solutions,” said Tony Levister, CTO, AAFES. “The decision to implement Transactionware Enterprise is consistent with our enterprise-wide architectural direction and is a natural evolution of the longstanding relationship between AAFES and Triversity.”
