Web sales pace strong yearly sales growth at L.L. Bean
Web-based sales at L.L. Bean Inc. increased 26% for the year ending Feb. 29 from the prior year, the company reports. Companywide sales were up 10% to $1.2 billion. L.L. Bean did not break out e-commerce numbers from the total. The overall growth rate was the largest year-over-year increase since 1995, when sales grew 10%. 2003 sales were also the highest in Bean’s history by $860 million over 2001’s $1.14 billion, the company says.
The company also reports that LLBean.com processed more than 50,000 in a single day four times during the holiday period. On its busiest day during the holidays, L.L. Bean shipped 175,000 packages.
