Refined search results in higher conversions at Spiegel.com


Women who use the new advanced search function at Spiegel.com are more than twice as likely to make a purchase than those who used previous, less robust search, the company reports. As part of its re-designed Spiegel.com, Spiegel added advanced search functionality from Endeca Technologies Inc. that helps shoppers narrow their selections by presenting not only search results, but search results sorted by various criteria.

For instance, a search on “dresses” displays thumbnails of dresses and a navigation bar that includes dresses sorted by price, size, brand and color. The search tool also automatically corrects misspellings and includes synonyms in search results, such as returning indigo when the customer searches on blue.

Spiegel.com re-launched in September.
