Diamond.com and JandR Electronics select TrueSpectra Image Server
TrueSpectra makes it easy for businesses to adopt Image Serving
SAN MATEO, CA MATEO, – July 29, 2002 – TrueSpectra, Inc. (www.TrueSpectra.com) the leading provider of high-performance server-based imaging solutions, today announced that Diamond.com, pre-eminent online retailer of certified diamonds, fine jewelry, and brand name watches (www.diamond.com) and JandR Music World/Computer World (www.jandr.com) have both selected TrueSpectra Image Server V4 for their on-line imaging needs.
“We immediately recognized the value that a Zoom capability would bring to our customer’s shopping experience,” stated George Grous, Chief Technology Officer at Diamond.com. “We selected TrueSpectra because, unlike other offerings, their solution allows our customers to see product detail quickly, without the need to download a plug-in.”
Image Server V4 enables faster Web application development and simplifies integration with leading products and platforms including Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, Flash MX, ColdFusion MX, JAVA applications, and servers such as BEA WebLogic, IBM Websphere, Apache Web server, and Microsoft IIS Web server. The second-generation Dynamic Zoom, with an enhanced user interface, and the enhanced Text Overlay feature are both controlled using Generator tools that give developers easy-to-use interfaces to quickly enable Web site images with these features.
“The ability to immediately overlay text messages will allow us to give our customers more up to date information on over 500,000 images. In addition, the TrueSpectra server allows us to save a lot of money on disk space, enabling us to store just one master copy of the image while continuing to show it in different sizes,” said Jason Friedman, Director, JandR.com. “We are known for our service, selection, and deals and we will be able to let customers quickly see all the information they need to make their decision.”
TrueSpectra’s product line includes Image Server V4, which is designed to meet the capacity and performance needs of medium to large Web sites as well as the Image Server, Developer Edition, which has been designed for smaller sites and intranets and will allow millions of developers to cost effectively integrate image-serving technology into their Web applications.
“We have recognized the movement of the market away from enterprise solutions for image serving, and the addition of Diamond.com and JandR to our family of customers reflects the market change and reinforces our new product and pricing strategy,” said V. David Watkins, President and CEO of TrueSpectra. “We know that the Image Server solves a variety of real issues for businesses of all sizes and understand that it has to do so cost effectively. Our ability to engineer the product to meet both the budget and business needs of the market will undoubtedly result in further market adoption.”
