CyberSource(R) Delivers Bottom-Line Benefits by Streamlining Online Order Acceptance for Fujitsu PC Corporation

CyberSource Solution to Automate Order Screening, Routing and Payment Processing; Minimizes Human Touch Points and Increases Sales Conversion

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Aug 5, 2002 -- CyberSource Corporation (CYBS) , a leading provider of risk management and electronic payment solutions for enterprise businesses, today announced that Fujitsu PC Corporation, a leader in mobile computing and wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited (HK:6702) , has selected the CyberSource Transaction Management solution to help reduce order processing time, decrease human involvement in order review, deter fraud and avoid rejecting valid orders of its LifeBook notebooks.

Fujitsu selected the CyberSource Transaction Management solution to improve its disparate payment, fraud and order processing systems. The CyberSource Transaction Management solution includes CyberSource transaction automation software along with the CyberSource Advanced Fraud Screen Service enhanced by Visa and CyberSource Payment service modules. The transaction automation platform allows merchants, such as Fujitsu, to automate the process of deciding to accept, reject or review an order. Its Web-based graphical user interface allows business managers to easily apply and change business rules and adjust processes to optimize sales results. Therefore, less human intervention is required to process an order, more sales can be automatically converted, fraud risk can be reduced, and business processes can be adjusted on demand without technical staff.

"The solution has allowed Fujitsu to significantly decrease the amount of orders we have to review, enabling us to realize greater operational efficiency," said Sara Nelson, Vice President of Marketing for Fujitsu PC Corporation. "As we continue to streamline our work processes and leverage the fraud screen service, we expect to realize further benefits, such as reduced chargebacks and goods lost due to fraud, positively impacting our bottom-line and improving customer satisfaction."

The CyberSource Transaction Management Solution The CyberSource transaction automation software is the central decisioning platform of the CyberSource Transaction Management solution (TMS). It allows businesses selling online and through call centers to centrally control and easily manage the entire transaction system, including credit card fraud, export compliance checks, tax calculation and order processing. It can be used on a stand-alone basis or in conjunction with other transaction components, such as the CyberSource Advanced Fraud Screen Service enhanced by Visa and CyberSource Payment services.

"In an attempt to combat fraud, many businesses implement inefficient order review processes and stringent rules that can result in the rejection of valid orders," said Jeff King, Director of Product Management at CyberSource. "We designed the transaction automation platform to give merchants like Fujitsu a way to automate and customize their transaction system to address their specific fraud concerns without jeopardizing operating efficiency or turning away good orders."

The CyberSource Advanced Fraud Screen Service enhanced by Visa, another component of TMS, provides fraud risk prediction scores by assessing over 150 order variable cross-checks, such as international address validation, international IP address verification and order velocity. Risk scores are typically calculated in less than two seconds using industry-leading technologies, including the recently announced patent-pending CyberSource fusion scoring technology. The service is further enabled by Visa`s patent-pending Virtual Intelligence Risk Technology, providing continuous model updates which employ global fraud trends and online and offline payment card usage patterns to improve fraud detection accuracy for card-not-present merchants.

The CyberSource Payment service operates behind-the-scenes to authorize and settle electronic payments through built-in connections with third-party processors and merchant banks. Developed for large enterprises with demanding needs, CyberSource payment solutions support Web, call center, IVR and POS sales environments, integrate smoothly with major commerce platforms and provide real-time, multiple currency support.

Additionally, CyberSource is the only payment transaction provider in the industry to utilize a U.S. Treasury-grade security model to authenticate and secure 100 percent of the transactions processed on behalf of its more than 3,000 customers worldwide. Unlike other security solutions, such as basic username and password authentication, which typically consists of only eight characters and can be compromised by "hackers," the CyberSource system utilizes a private key, known only by the merchant, with over 1,024 bits of data used to authenticate each transaction, making it virtually impossible to penetrate.
