Online sales up 16% for week ending March 21, comScore reports
Online retail spending increased 16% for the week ending March 21 from the corresponding week a year ago, reaching $1.1 billion from $955 million, comScore Networks Inc. reports.
Total retail spending for the week ending March 20 was down 4.1% from the same week a year ago, reports ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate. ShopperTrak attributes the decline to weather that is not “retail friendly,” with cold weather in the East delaying spring purchases and warm weather in the West putting consumers in mind of summer.
Online travel sales for the week ending March 21 were up 34% to $930 million from $696 million for the corresponding week a year ago, comScore reports.
