Mac’s c-stores install the web-based ZapLink kiosk system

Mac’s Convenience Stores Inc., a subsidiary of Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., will install web-based ZapLink kiosks from Info Touch Technologies Corp. in 34 stores in Vancouver, BC, the company reported this week. ZapLink terminals allow consumers to perform a variety of functions in stores, including bill payment, online purchases and checking e-mail.

The Circle K Corp. of Phoenix, AZ, has installed ZapLink terminals in two states. Couche-Tard acquired Circle K in December from ConocoPhillips Corp., making it the fourth largest convenience store operator in North America with 4,672 stores.

Info Touch will deploy and manage the Canadian network of ZapLink e-service terminals. Mac’s and Info Touch will receive recurring transactional revenues from applications such as wi-fi, bill payment, mobile content , such as ring tones, graphics and games for cell phones, prepaid wireless, long-distance, money order, and money transfer.
