Allwall.com acquires art.com

Allwall.com, a Raleigh, N.C.-based online seller of posters, art and framed prints, has acquired a majority of assets belonging to art.com, an Internet retailer of images and related products and services, from Getty Images Inc. The acquisition includes the domain name, art.com`s affiliate program, strategic partnerships, and certain intellectual property.

"This acquisition solidifies us as the definitive online source for framed and unframed art prints and posters, and allows us to build on the most recognizable brand name in the industry," said Joshua Chodniewicz, CEO for allwall.com. "Art.com users will now be able to have an improved user experience via allwall.com`s vast inventory, state of the art custom framing technology and exceptional customer service."

Allwall.com and Getty Images plan to make available a new line of fine art prints to allwall.com`s inventory of 80,000 posters, photographs and prints that can be professionally framed with allwall.com`s custom-framing capabilities.

Allwall.com was founded in 1995 in a college apartment at Virginia Tech by Michael John Marston and Joshua Chodniewicz. Allwall.com now has 50 employees. The privately held company says it reached profitability in June 2000.
