Web sales at CDW up 56% to $361 million in Q1

Web-based sales at computer equipment seller CDW Corp. were up 56% in the first quarter to $361 million, 27% of total revenue, the company reported this week. Total sales were up 31% to $1.33 billion. CDW sells primarily to businesses, government and educational institutions. Only 2-3% of sales are to consumers.

The Vernon Hills, IL-based company had net earnings of $55.3 million in the quarter, the highest in its history and up 30% over Q1 last year.

Q1 corporate sales reached $1.089 billion while public sector sales reached $247.6 million.
