AT&T adds Switchboard Inc.’s Nearbuy Services to its wireless web offering
Users of AT&T Wireless’s PocketNet service will be able to search the inventories of local stores online using Switchboard Inc.’s Nearbuy Merchandising Services, AT&T announced today. The service allows consumers to search inventories of local stores via web sites, wireless devices, directory assistance and concierge
services. The Nearbuy service is identified as the “Product Locator” in the Shopping folder of PocketNet.
“Ultimately people shop locally for items not stores,” said Ben Paul, president of Switchboard’s Nearbuy Merchandising Group. “Our work with AT&T Wireless will no wallow them all AT&T Digital PocketNet users to search the shelves of local retailers fop the precise items they want.”
PocketNet gives subscribers unlimited access to more than
80 Internet services and offers flat rate pricing for unlimited e-mail and
full web browsing capabilities. Westboro, Mass.-based Switchboard Inc. is a
leading provider of directory technology and its Nearbuy solutions, a suite
of products and services promoting local business across a range of wireless
and Internet platforms. Its flagship web site, CBS Switchboard.com, features
such content and services as yellow and white pages, product searching and
interactive maps and driving directions. The company is owned by Viacom
Inc., which owns the CBS Broadcasting Inc. network, and ePresence.
