TigerDirect and Zingy to offer co-branded site for ringtones
TigerDirect.com is looking to expand its electronics offerings with a cell phone ringtones site co-branded with Zingy Inc., provider of digital music, games, ringtones and background sounds for cell phones, Lonny Paul, director of e-commerce for TigerDirect, tells Internet Retailer.
“We’ll offer services from various cell phone carriers,” Paul says. “Our core business remains computers and consumer electronics, but this will bring us incremental, sales, profits and customers.”
Although TigerDirect and Zingy have yet to establish a name for their co-branded site, it will probably operate as a site within TigerDirect.com, Paul says. Consumers with Internet-connected cell phones will be able to log onto the co-branded site direct from their phones to order and pay for content. Another option will be to log onto the site from any computer and enter a cell phone number to have content delivered to that phone. Deliveries are processed through e-mail.
