Warminster, Pennsylvania – August 27, 2002 - UNITED DRUGS, America’s premier buying cooperative, is pleased to announce an exclusive endorsement agreement with Health Business Systems, Inc. (HBS). Through this agreement HBS will offer its retail pharmacy software solution to the more than 1500 members of the United Drugs cooperative at prices starting under $ 5,000 for a complete turnkey solution.
At a later date UNITED DRUGS will install the HBS Chain Host solution and begin offering its members value added services through daily connectivity between the Chain Host and the individual store systems. These services will include gross profit monitoring, unbilled and under billed claims review, review of severe dug interaction overrides, contract price monitoring, and electronic claim reconciliation.
David Goot, VP of Marketing, stated that many of the United members have already been running systems provided by HBS and were very familiar with their state-of-the-art technology. "We looked around at the remaining vendor market and felt HBS provided the most cost effective solution combined with advanced software technology, at both the store level system and with their Chain Host solution, to meet our members needs. HBS has the latest in Internet connectivity, workflow solutions, a recently released delivery module, QA monitoring including pill imaging and multiple opportunities for data sales. POS and IVR are value add options that interface with the HBS system."
Louis Greenberg, President of HBS, stated that he is looking forward to enhancing the profitability of the UNITED DRUGS members through this joint partnership. "System vendors today must offer solutions far beyond processing a basic prescription, adjudicating a claim and printing a label. Our goal is to enable the independent pharmacy owner to remain technologically competitive with the mega chains that collectively spend hundreds of millions of dollars on software solutions and productivity tools. Connectivity to our Chain Host will be an additional way of increasing the profitability of the pharmacy owners who are members of UNITED.
