Blue Martini Software Extends Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition With Newly Released Support for IBM DB2 Database Software

Blue Martini Also Releases New Benchmark Results for Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition, Demonstrating Unprecedented Performance and Scalability of Blue Martini Applications on IBM Stack

SAN MATEO, Calif., Sept. 3 -- Blue Martini Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: BLUE) today announced that it is shipping support for IBM`s DB2* database software as a newly released part of Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition. Bundled with IBM WebSphere* Application Server and IBM MQ Series*, and supporting IBM AIX* and now IBM DB2* database software, Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition delivers comprehensive, feature-rich functionality for marketing, e-commerce, interactive selling, channel management and self-service operations.

Blue Martini Software also released recent results for a benchmark test for Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition that demonstrated unprecedented performance and scalability on a single 8-way IBM pSeries 660 Model M80 server. In the benchmark test, Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition maintained sub-second response time -- from page request to complete page load -- while scaling up to approximately 20,000 concurrent users. Furthermore, Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition is proven to scale linearly and predictably as more hardware is added. At this rate of scalability, a set of five 8-way IBM pSeries M80s can support nearly 100,000 concurrent users, giving companies using this combination a solid price for performance solution.

"With some of the top worldwide brands and most visited sites running on Blue Martini applications, it is essential to provide scalable solutions with a low total cost of ownership," said Chip Overstreet, vice president of marketing, Blue Martini Software. "The results of the benchmark test prove that Blue Martini offers IBM customers the performance and scalability they have come to expect for their customer-facing, mission-critical business processes. These benchmark results demonstrate a key competitive advantage for Blue Martini Software over our competitors that require significantly more hardware to achieve similar results."

About Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition
Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition comes bundled with IBM WebSphere* Application Server and IBM MQ Series*, and supports IBM AIX* and IBM DB2* database software. Integrated analytics underpin each of the five modular marketing, e-commerce, interactive selling, channels and self-service suites. Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition enables companies to execute targeted campaigns optimized for response rate, personalize interactions to retain customers and increase wallet share, and create virtual focus groups to test-market new ideas. The suites help companies sell direct to businesses and consumers via multiple touch points, and create partner self-service portals that deliver all the information and tools required to sell effectively. The suites deliver applications for unparalleled customer service over the phone or web. Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition has been optimized for IBM technologies, and enables joint customers to deploy the right solution at the right time, realize quick time-to-benefit, and extend their solutions over time as their business needs evolve.

Benchmark Test Methodology
The benchmark test leveraged the LoadRunner 6.5 tool, which is designed to capture the performance metrics of a high volume, content-rich, real world site running on Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition applications and was performed using the following parameters:
-- User model - the benchmark test used scripted user behavior modeled with a realistic distribution of time spent browsing, updating, buying, searching, waiting, etc. In between actions, the virtual user waits an amount of time ranging from 4 seconds to 10.5 minutes based on an industry standard "think time" distribution curve.
-- Store size - the test used a realistic e-commerce site with one million stock-keeping units (SKUs) in inventory, more than 5 times larger than a typical large e-commerce site.
-- E-commerce site design - real-world page design with multiple images per page.
-- Response criteria - in the benchmark test, LoadRunner 6.5 measured response time from the moment the user clicks a link or button to the time when a full page is returned. The goal was to achieve sub-second responses across a wide range of load scenarios.
-- Hardware configuration - the benchmark test utilized realistic hardware configurations that included load balancers, web servers, application servers, and database servers. Horizontal and vertical scalability tests were performed with multiple instances of Blue Martini 5 - IBM Edition applications running on multiple application servers.
