Firepond reduces staff by 30%
Firepond Inc., which develops web-based selling, customer acquisition and customer service systems, says it will lay off 30% of its workforce as part of a restructuring.
"We are taking this difficult action at this time in order to position Firepond for the long-term in the face of a challenging market," stated Klaus Besier, Firepond`s chairman and CEO. "These changes focus our entire business around our core competencies and maintain our ability to deliver value to the market through quality products and services that help companies lower the cost of acquiring and retaining customers."
Firepond says it has felt the effects of the slowdown in the overall economy and in technology spending. “Firepond is taking this action now to protect its current strong cash position and keep the company on track to achieve break-even no later than the second quarter of fiscal 2002,” the company said.
