Shutterfly names a chief marketing officer

Shutterfly Inc. has appointed Kathryn Olson as chief marketing officer.

Olsen will oversee Shutterfly’s corporate communications, advertising, customer acquisition/retention, merchandising, direct marketing and creative services programs. She will report to Shutterfly CEO Jeffrey Housenbold.

Prior to joining Shutterfly, Olson served as chief marketing officer for LeapFrog Enterprises Inc., where she oversaw consumer insights, product direction, advertising, corporate communications and licensing. Prior to LeapFrog, she was vice president of consumer marketing for the William Wrigley Jr. Co. and the executive vice president of marketing for Nordstrom.com.

She also has served as vice president of global marketing for Monsanto Life Sciences and with The Quaker Oats Co.

Shutterfly, an online photo services retailer, is No. 93 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
