Pacific Sunwear streamlines top management

Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. is announcing several personnel changes the company says will streamline operations and management responsibilities.

In addition to her other duties, Sally Frame Kasaks, who took over as permanent CEO on May 23, will also oversee Pacific Sunwear’s information services, real estate and construction departments. Pacific Sunwear, No. 315 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, announced other management changes. Pacific Sunwear division president Tom Kennedy will be responsible for overseeing store operations and senior vice president and chief financial officer Gerald Chaney will assume responsibility for overseeing the distribution center, global logistics and trade compliance.

As part of the realignment, Pacific Sunwear eliminated the position of chief operating officer and announced that COO Wendy Burden will leave the company. “These organizational changes will result in improved alignment of the company`s operations by flattening the structure and creating greater accountability at the senior management level," says Kasaks.

Kasaks was named interim CEO in October and the permanent chairman and CEO in May. She earlier served as chairman and CEO of Ann Taylor Stores Inc. from 1992 to 1996; as president and chief executive of Abercrombie and Fitch from 1989 to 1992; and as chairman and CEO of The Talbots Inc. from 1985 to 1988.
