J.Crew launches CrewCutKids online store for children’s clothing
J.Crew Group Inc. will launch April 1 CrewCutKids.com, a shopping site offering J.Crew’s new clothing collection for children ages 2 to 8, the company said.
“We are going after a J.Crew style that our customers really love for themselves and want for their kids,” said Miller Drexler, chairman and CEO. “Until now, we feel that the kids market has been missing a certain sophistication, price and quality that we hope to provide.”
J.Crew briefly tested a children’s collection in 2001, and sold a limited selection of cashmere sweaters for children during the 2005 holiday season. Favorable customer response to that selection led J.Crew to roll out the CrewCutKids’ collection, which includes a wide variety of items ranging from cashmere sweaters to t-shirts and chinos.
The retailer also will be opening a freestanding CrewCutKids store in Dallas on May 3, and CrewCutKids clothing also will be in available in 10 “shop-in-shop” locations in J.Crew stores nationwide.
J.Crew, No. 65 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, is a multi-channel retailer of apparel, shoes and accessories.
