Online orders were in full flower during the Mother’s Day holiday period at 1-800-Flowers.com, accounting for more than 70% of combined web and telephone orders, the company reports.
Total orders for the holiday period from April 26 to May 9 exceeded 1 million, with orders on the peak day totaling 175,000. Due to same-day fulfillment capacity it’s worked to develop, the company was able to accept and deliver thousands of orders that didn’t come in until Mother’s Day Sunday. All in all, 1-800-Flowers.com delivered more than 850,000 floral arrangements, live plants and other gift items.
