Nordstrom launches a beauty site

Nordstrom Inc. today launched its online beauty business nordstrombeauty.com. The site launches with offerings in skin care, trend beauty products and nationally known products, including Lancome, Calvin Klein, Paula Dorf, Tony & Tina, Clarins, Biotherm, Kneipp, Osmotics, and Urban Decay.

Over the next year Nordstrom says it will add cosmetics and fragrance lines so that the online offering mirrors what customers find in its stores, including the addition of various M.A.C. collections and Estee Lauder brands. Integrated events and promotions will also appear both in stores and online in order to create a consistent shopping experience for customers, Nordstrom says. "Our goal is to make sure our customers have online access to everything that is currently available in our stores -- the latest styles and colors in beauty, the best skin care as well as all of their longtime favorite brands," said Dale Crichton, executive vice president and corporate merchandise manager for cosmetics, Nordstrom. "We also want to make sure our customers have the same great shopping experience and have access to knowledgeable sales help whether they're in our stores, shopping online or talking with one of our Beauty Experts via 800-7BEAUTY."

Online customers will be able to chat with a team of beauty experts who have an average of 12 years experience in beauty products and make-up, are skin care certified and cross-trained on beauty and fragrance brands available in stores and online. Nordstrom will fulfill beauty items several ways. Some will be shipped from the Nordstrom.com fulfillment center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and the majority will be fulfilled from 11 Nordstrom stores that serve the Nordstrom Beauty hotline.
