San Francisco’s Gump’s relaunches its e-commerce site
San Francisco-based specialty department store Gump’s has re-launched its e-commerce site with an emphasis on merchandise that had been available only in the store and with a new Gift Finder that allows shoppers to search by keyword, price, occasion, and recipient—or any combination—to see a selection of gift options.
Gump’s is a 144-year old brand that specializes in unusual, exclusive, and high-quality merchandise—including one-of-a-kind pieces. In addition to the web site and store, it also operates a catalog. The new web site is built on the MarketLive Inc. Intelligent Selling platform.
“The Web retail channel has tremendous growth potential,” said Jed Pogran, president of Gump’s. “We see it as a strong strategic fit with our catalog business and our focus on gift giving. We put considerable effort into finding an e-commerce solutions provider that had successfully created rich, customer-focused online environments and also offered expert consulting services.
The site also lets customers shop by specific artisans and designers.
“Gump’s is renowned for its distinctive store merchandise,” said Ken Burke, founder and CEO of MarketLive, “and it has made promoting the Gump’s brand to an online audience a key strategic goal. The newly launched site emphasizes the organization’s long-time reputation for service and unique products, while making its merchandise accessible to potential customers who may never have the opportunity to visit San Francisco.”
