New Features Lead the Industry in Personalization Capabilities That Improve Performance of the Email Channel
CHICAGO – October 15, 2002 – Yesmail, Inc., a leading online relationship marketing company, today announced the immediate availability of the YesConnect 5.0 application, the latest release of its industry-leading, web-based email marketing platform. YesConnect 5.0 is available either as a self-service ASP or as a fully-outsourced solution. Existing clients automatically are upgraded to YesConnect 5.0, which builds upon earlier releases with two new functions. The first new function automates the process of marrying a marketing message to customer profiles; and, the second new function allows a multi-brand or multi-division company to generate a consolidated view of its consumer.

Two new functional modules highlight the enhanced features.
New Features and Functionality of YesConnect 5.0
Precision PersonalizationTM, the first new module offered within YesConnect 5.0, is designed to improve marketers’ bottom lines by enabling them to improve the performance of their email programs, while reducing the cost to maintain those programs. This new module automates the matching of message content to detailed customer profiles, easily sequencing the flow of conversation based on each individual’s responses to previous pieces of content. With YesConnect’s standard, real-time reporting module, marketers not only can understand how overall messages are performing, but also can understand how each piece of content within the message performs. Using this information, marketers can make more intelligent decisions on future personalization campaigns, continuously optimizing the performance of their email program at the individual level. The automated content matching feature provides each customer with a unique and relevant message stream based on his/her profile, preferences and previous interactions with offers and content. Furthermore, by automating personalization at the content level, marketers can more easily re-purpose content, giving longer shelf life to content they invest in and reducing the cost of campaign creation.

Enterprise Access ControlTM, YesConnect 5.0’s second new module, provides the flexibility to oversee company-wide email marketing initiatives or manage email programs at the division or brand level. This module enables a multi-brand or multi-division company to generate a single, consolidated view of the consumer where one database contains all the contact and purchase history for each customer. At the same time, Enterprise Access Control allows a company to assign strict access permissions to portions of the data so that individual brands or divisions can only access data related to their specific responsibilities. Enterprise Access Control also reduces unnecessary customer churn. Opt-in status is maintained automatically at multiple levels of the enterprise and for each brand, preventing one brand or division from causing undue unsubscribes from the others. YesConnect 5.0 is the only email marketing application that can manage all of the corporate communication for the large multi-brand enterprise.
In addition to these two new modules, Yesmail has added many other features focused on solving two major challenges in email marketing: gathering detailed customer profile data and easily delivering highly relevant communications.
Other Highlights of YesConnect 5.0:
·After-the-Click TrackingTM – Enables marketers to track consumer behavior across a marketer’s Web sites and to understand exactly what happens after their customers click on the message. Marketers can easily leverage this data to deliver more relevant content at the most relevant time to customers.
· Advanced Polling Capabilities – Enables marketers to consistently enhance customer profiles by having a single question in each email message for customer interaction. All responses are captured
and added to customer profiles. With enhanced customer knowledge, marketers can develop more relevant messages and offers for their customers.
· Advanced Surveying Capabilities - Enables marketers to send individually-customized survey questions to customers to backfill missing information from their existing customer profiles. Like polling, this feature enhances customer profiles to help deliver more relevant messages and offers.
· Automated recency-frequency segmentations – Delivers an automated segmentation solution that scores customers based on their recency and frequency of click-through and read activity. This feature enables marketers to assess customer behavior and target future messages based on customer actions.
· Upgraded message QA and testing facilities – Provides the most comprehensive message testing suite in the industry, allowing marketers to easily test their messages before they are sent out in many different ways: previewing personalized messages for each consumer, sending to seed lists as well as on demand to specific addresses.
