SAQQARA Announces ContentWorks(TM) 3.0

Automated Content Solution Significantly Reduces SKU Processing Cost Burden

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 15 -- SAQQARA(R) Systems, Inc., a provider of product content and catalog management software and services with more than 80 customers worldwide, today announced the release of SAQQARA ContentWorks 3.0, a flexible, automated product content management solution. By simplifying and automating acquisition, transformation, and classification of product information, ContentWorks enables manufacturers, distributors and buyers to populate e-catalog and e-procurement applications to manage product information as a strategic asset at the industry`s lowest cost per SKU.

"A Midwestern retailer with more than 100,000 SKUs was on track to spend $40M using internal resources to put its products on the Web. Instead, it was able to outsource this process for $5M," said Peter Abell, AMR Research Report, May, 2002. "But with 15,000 new SKUs each year, it still will add $750,000 to its Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), which is too high given its corporate profitability goals."

SAQQARA ContentWorks 3.0 can help companies like this achieve their profitability goals by automating the management and distribution of their product content -- further reducing their cost per SKU. ContentWorks 3.0 employs an open-architecture and is a completely web-based solution that enables product content creators, in any location worldwide, to easily build and maintain an aggregated product catalog using content transformation wizards and content editors.

New features of ContentWorks 3.0 include the following:

WorkFlow and AutoExecution
WorkFlow and AutoExecution work together to significantly reduce administration time for catalog updates by automatically adding catalog updates based on delta processing. AutoExecution enables users to string together infinite transformation rules and trigger their execution at a specific time (time-based) or by a specific event such as new data received from a supplier to allow updates from suppliers to be processed automatically. Operating on a delta processing methodology, WorkFlow expedites processing time by selecting only changed items for processing.

Taxonomy-to-Taxonomy mapping
Product information from one catalog hierarchy is automatically converted to another, resulting in higher quality data with reduced effort. The feature provides strategic sourcing groups an inexpensive way to present their e-procurement end-users multiple, user friendly, catalogs thereby accelerating user adoption at a dramatically lower cost.

XML Import/Export
Syndicated export of cleansed product, customer data or ERP item masters enables use by other enterprise applications or trading partners on both the supply side and the channel side.

2nd Source/substitutions
Specifically designed for buy-side implementations, the substitution feature recognizes that an item is a duplicate item from a second supplier, and automatically merges the information into a single item, without losing the fact that it is available from two sources. Buyers enjoy the convenience of simplified price comparisons and alternative sourcing.

"Product sellers and buyers face the same problem -- maintaining and accessing accurate, up to date catalog information," adds Rick Collison, vice president of marketing, SAQQARA Systems. "SAQQARA ContentWorks is a robust solution that maximizes the ROI of e-procurement systems while significantly reducing the per SKU administrative cost."
