LiveProducts’ president resigns

Bill Sims, president of the LiveProducts Division of e-SIM Inc., a provider of simulation technology for product design and web-based customer support and marketing, has resigned, the company announced this week. The LiveProducts Division will now report to Ken Dixon, president of e-SIM.

In addition, e-SIM is completing a reorganization that resulted in the lay-off of 4 people--30% of the North American staff—and a new product focus. The LiveProducts Division produces web-based, interactive user manuals.

e-SIM is adding a licensing component to its LiveProducts offering. Until now, LiveProducts has created the videos and content that go into its electronic user manuals. But under its new arrangement, the company will license its RapidPLUS product, which focuses on helping manufacturers create product prototypes, under the name RapidPLUS Web Studio. Manufacturers can license the RapidPLUS Web Studio product as a way to keep all control of product information in the hands of the manufacturer. “Some companies consider any information about their new products to be a competitive weapon and so don’t want anyone outside of the company to know anything about the product,” says a spokeswoman for e-SIM.
