Mountain Equipment Co-op has launched a French version of its e-commerce site. Both the English and French sites can be accessed at MEC.ca.
The French site complements the retailer’s Montreal and Quebec City stores and bilingual Ottawa store and phone-order service. Some 700,000 words of English content were translated for the French e-commerce site, which includes 8,000 pages of outdoor product and activity information.
No. 343 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, Mountain Equipment Co-op opened for business in 1971 and launched its web site in 2001. The company reached $8 million in online sales last year, up 13.8% from $7 million in 2004.
