Books-A-Million books $27.6 million in FY 2006
Books-A-Million Inc. posted a small gain in FY 2006 web sales. For the year, e-commerce sales increased 3.7% to $27.6 million from $26.7 million in fiscal 2005; total sales year-over-year grew 6.3% to $503.8 million compared with $474.1 million.
“We were very pleased with our results, and sales were positive across a broad range of categories,” says president and CEO Sandra B. Cochran. “Our core book business performed well, as did the gift business and the bargain book category.
The company, No. 181 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, is the nation’s third largest books retailer. Overall the web represented 5% of total sales vs. 6% in 2004.
