ServiceMagic experiences highest March traffic gain in home/garden sites


Visits increased at nine of the top 10 home and garden sites in March, led by ServiceMagic, which experienced a 179% increase to 2.6 million from 933,000 a year earlier, according to Nielsen/NetRatings.

IKEA posted the second largest increase, with visits rising 92% to 2.3 million from 1.2 million a year earlier; followed by Home Shopping Network, up 52% to 3.5 million from 2.3 million; eBay Crafts, up 32% to 4.5 million from 3.4 million; Lowe’s, up 29% to 7.6 million from 5.9 million; The Home Depot, up 27% to 9.5 million from 7.5 million; eBay, up 22% to 13.1 million from 10.7 million; DIY Network, up 20% to 3 million from 2.5 million; and HGTV-Home and Garden Television, up 8% to 5.4 million from 5 million.

Only one home and garden site experienced a loss. At Pottery Barn, visits dropped 5% to 1.9 million from 2 million.

The top site in number of visits was eBay Home, followed by The Home Depot, Lowe’s, HGTV-Home & Garden Television, eBay Crafts, Home Shopping Network, DIY Network, ServiceMagic, IKEA and Pottery Barn.

In the top 10 ranked by time per visit, Home & Garden TV led with 25 minutes, 43 seconds; Brylane Home, 24 minutes, 34 seconds; Lakeside.com, 19 minutes, 11 seconds; Collections Etc., 18 minutes, 17 seconds; ltdcommodities.com, 17 minutes, 51 seconds; Harborfreight.com, 17 minutes, 23 seconds; GE Appliances, 14 minutes, 8 seconds; eBay Home, 11 minutes, 37 seconds; eBay Crafts, 11 minutes, 11 seconds; and Replacements.com, 10 minutes, 27 seconds.

Also in March, The Clorox Co.’s Clorox brand had the most online ad impressions among home and garden brands, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance Report. The leading brands and their ad impressions were (in millions):
