Online sales at Vernon Hills, Ill.-based CDW Computer Centers Inc. grew 55% in the second quarter to $152.8 million from the second quarter a year ago. Web sales were up 1% over Q1.
"Approximately 65% of our total company sales were generated from
the more than 96,000 active users of CDW@work, our custom-tailored web
site program. These customers place orders either online or directly with the account manager, consistent with CDW's 'clicks and people' strategy,” said chairman and CEO John A. Edwardson.
Companywide sales for the quarter were $995 million vs. $943.3 million for the same period in 2000, an increase of 5%. Net income rose 7% to $43 million from $40 million for 2000’s second quarter.
Net sales for the first six months of 2001 totaled
$1.982 billion, up 10% from prior year. Year to date net
income totaled $83.5 million, up 11%.
