RetailExchange acquires TradeOut’s consumer products division
Boston-based RetailExchange, a leader in providing excess inventory solutions for
consumer goods manufacturers and retailers, is acquiring consumer products
division assets from Valhalla, NY-based TradeOut. RetailExchange will buy TradeOut’s apparel and general merchandise divisions, which include men’s and women’s apparel, consumer electronics, toys, housewares, domestics, food and health & beauty care. The acquisition will double the size of RetailExchange’s customer base.
Kenneth S. Frieze, CEO of RetailExchange, says the acquisition will give his company a
stronger hold in the apparel segment. “This acquisition is something that will help us get to the next level,” Frieze tells internetretailer.com. Merchandisers and salespeople will move with the acquisition but technology support will not. RetailExchange uses its own online negotations software, while TradeOut worked under an auction model, says Frieze.
TradeOut, a global online marketplace for business surplus, plans to focus on its core transportation and industrial categories.
