Fashionmall.com’s revenue and losses fall in Q2
Fashionmall.com Inc., an Internet portal in fashion, beauty and lifestyle retailing, reported a 30% decline in revenue in the second quarter but also a steep drop in operating losses. Q2 revenue was $868,000 vs. $1.23 million for the year-ago period. Barter revenue increased both in total dollars and as a percentage of revenue with Q2 2001 barter revenue of $309,000 representing 36% of total revenue compared to $120,000 representing 10% of revenue in Q2 2000.
The net loss for the quarter totaled $23,000, down 95% from Q2 2000’s net loss of $460,000. The loss from operations for the quarter ended June 30 was $429,000 vs. $1.09 million for the quarter a year ago.
For the six months ended June 30 total sales decreased by $342,000 to $2.2 million from $2.55 million in last year’s first half. The first half net loss was $590,000 vs. $3.3 million in last year’s first half. Loss from operations was $1.55 million vs. $4.35 million a year earlier.
Fashionmall.com operates vertical shopping and content portals in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle space including boo.com, outletmall.com, styleexperts.com and fashionstyleshopper.com. Fashionmall.com generates revenue through
traffic based contracts and slotting fees with manufacturers, retailers,
magazines and catalogs who advertise, display and sell products on the sites as well as through traditional advertising and sponsorship sales.
