Ex-eBay executive appointed CEO at Eventful.com

A former eBay executive has joined Eventful.com, a start-up, events-finding online destination, as CEO, the site’s San Diego-based operator, EVDB Inc., has announced. Jordan Glazier was previously general manager of eBay’s computers, consumer electronics and business and industrial businesses.

Eventful.com, which launched 7 months ago with venture capital including funding from eBay founder Pierre Omidyar’s Omidyar Networks and half.com founder Josh Kopelman, among others, is a searchable database that allows visitors to find local events from rock concerts to fundraisers around the world. Visitors can search by geography, venue, performer and other parameters. Users also can add events to the site for free, providing a way to promote events they would like to share with other site users.

The site’s underlying platform allows other web sites, bloggers and visitors to interact with the database, syndicate Eventful.com data, receive feeds of the listing and input events and information. While depending on VC funding currently, the site will eventually carry advertising, according to a spokesman for the company.
