Joint Solutions Target Top 100 Online Merchants
AUSTIN, Texas – October 30, 2001 – ClearCommerce Corp., the leading provider of payment processing and fraud protection software for e-commerce, today announced an agreement with Visa U.S.A. to support the Visa Payer Authentication service, based on the Visa 3-D Secure interoperability standard. Visa Payer Authentication is the basis for Verified by Visa, an
e-commerce program designed to reduce the risk of unauthorized use of cardholder accounts, making Internet shopping safer for both buyers and sellers. By reducing disputes related to fraudulent Internet transactions, Verified by Visa will increase consumer and merchant confidence in electronic commerce. ClearCommerce will promote Verified by Visa and the ClearCommerce payment and fraud reduction products to the top 100 online merchants to ensure successful adoption of the program.
Verified by Visa enables Visa card Issuers to verify a cardholder`s identity in real time, during online payment transactions, thereby bringing the online payment experience closer to that of a card-present or physical world transaction. ClearCommerce Payer Authentication works with Verified by Visa to automate payment authentication, giving merchants similar fraud protections as they receive in face-to-face transactions. ClearCommerce Payer Authentication easily plugs into the merchant’s online storefront and works in conjunction with the ClearCommerce Engine as well as other payment processing services.
