Lands’ End chooses EasyAsk to enhance online search

EasyAsk Inc., a Littleton, MA-based developer of search technology for e-commerce sites, announced today that Lands’ End Inc. has implemented EasyAsk’s next-generation search technology on its e-commerce web site. Installed just prior to the back-to-school shopping season, the new technology will make finding products easier for Lands’ End web shoppers, according to a news release distributed today by both companies at the eTail 2001 Conference in New York.

The release noted that Land’s End chose EasyAsk after an intensive evaluation of several search engine vendors. The precision of EasyAsk, which boasts a near 100% search accuracy at other e-retail sites, and the ease and speed of implementation were Lands’ End’s prime considerations in selecting the product, according to the release.

“EasyAsk’s language-understanding search technology allows customers to find exactly what they are looking for, through a standard search-box interface, without having to spend time sorting through irrelevant answers,” the press release stated. “Because EasyAsk can be tightly integrated with existing supply chain and inventory management technologies, merchants can limit searches to only those items that are in stock at the moment a query is conducted, and can even present items in the order (based on margins, inventory, manufacturers and specials) that are most meaningful to the merchant.”
