Web ticketing service MovieTickets.com has launched new mobile technology offering enhanced movie searches, ticket purchasing and box office information. A personalization tool will recall customers’ past purchases and favorite theaters.
Consumers now can search for a movie by location or title, buy tickets, access a listing of new releases and box office information, read movie news, and view detailed maps to the theater. The new features are accessible by visiting Mobile.MovieTickets.com from any Internet-enabled mobile device, although iPhone users will access them via iPhone.MovieTickets.com.
The mobile services include personalization features, such as the ability to recall individual movie searches and favorite theaters, and provide quick access to movies and show times in those specific locations, the company says.
“MovieTickets.com was an early mover into the mobile space with the launch of our first mobile application over five years ago. These new applications demonstrate our commitment to improving our service offerings and popularizing advance movie ticket purchases as buying options expand and new technology platforms emerge,” says Joel Cohen, executive vice president and general manager.
The new MovieTickets.com mobile web applications were developed in conjunction with wireless application service provider MobileGates Corp., which specializes in location-based services on mobile phones.
Through the partnership with MobileGates, MovieTickets.com plans to soon offer users the ability to purchase movie-related mobile content for their phones, such as games, ringtones, wallpapers and screensavers.
