Kewill Systems plc (LSE: KWL), a leading provider of business-to-business e-commerce supply chain management solutions, announced today that Mothercare plc, the leading retailer for mothers-to-be and parents of young children, will use Kewill.Trade to optimize efficiency in its B2B e-Fulfillment processes.
Currently, Mothercare uses Kewill’s Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system to exchange P.O.s, delivery notes and invoices electronically with about 180 suppliers – the balance using a bureau service. The Web-based Kewill.Trade solution will provide ordering and fulfillment between Mothercare and its suppliers by enabling them to electronically exchange critical information such as purchase orders, order acknowledgements, order cancellations, Advanced Shipping Notices (ASN), invoices and stock availability. Furthermore, Kewill.Trade will allow Mothercare to bring on additional suppliers who are currently not EDI-enabled and are primarily smaller or seasonal firms. Supplier information received through the system will integrate directly into Mothercare’s JDA Merchandise Management System and Manhattan Associates PkMS Warehouse Management System.
Kewill.Trade will support the processes and systems at Mothercare’s new distribution center based in Daventry, Northants. Kewill.Trade will also enable all of Mothercare’s suppliers to meet the retailer’s compliance requirements in the printing of bar code dispatch labels for each consignment
By choosing Kewill.Trade, Mothercare has selected a B2B e-Fulfillment solution designed to overcome barriers such as the cost and complexity of electronic commerce, which historically has excluded many small and medium-sized suppliers. The system will be hosted by Kewill and Mothercare suppliers will register with Kewill.Net in order to begin trading electronically.
“Kewill’s Web-based B2B e-fulfillment solution will bring efficiencies to the Mothercare supply chain. It will allow us to trade effectively now—and in the future share appropriate information with our trading partners,” said David McVitty, Head of IT for Mothercare. “We selected Kewill.Trade because of its reputation as a technology leader in the business-to-business e-commerce market. We’ve also enjoyed a long relationship with Kewill in which Kewill has demonstrated a track record in delivering solutions that provide flexibility and scalability.”
Bob Malley, CEO Designate of Kewill Systems plc commented, “We are delighted that Mothercare and its supplier base will be using Kewill’s Web-based solutions to meet the demanding e-Fulfillment requirements of their market. With Kewill.Trade, Mothercare will enhance its supply chain collaboration with suppliers and position the company for future growth.”
