Toys R Us grows 2005 web sales 17%
Annual sales at ToysRUs.com totaled $429 million in 2005, up 17% from $366 million in 2004.
In 2005 online sales represented 3.8% of Toys R Us Inc.s total $11.3 billion in sales compared with 3.3% of 2004s total sales of $11.1 billion. The net sales increase for ToysRUs.com was driven by approximately 13% growth in total orders and a 5% increase in average order dollar value, which contributed to a 27% growth in baby product sales and 17% growth in toy sales, partially offset by a 5% decline in video game sales, the company stated in its recently filed 10K report.
Toys R Us, No. 26 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, operates three web sites in addition to ToysRUs.com: Imaginarium.com, SportsRUs.com and BabiesRUs.com.
As a result of a decision handed down by New Jersey Superior Court judge Margaret Mary McVeigh in March, Toys R Us is going ahead with plans to terminate its e-commerce and merchandising agreement with Amazon.com by June 30. The two companies signed their agreement in August 2000.
