Discount e-retailer eCost.com has introduced the Platinum Premium Club program. The company expects the club to improve overall customer service, reduce outbound freight costs and attract new price-conscious shoppers.
Platinum Premium Club members gain access to exclusive shipping promotions for a $39.95 annual fee. Promotions include free ground shipping as well as discounted express shipping rates for orders placed online; members pay only the upgrade amount for express delivery. Other club benefits include admission to an exclusive online showcase of special deals.
Sales slipped 3% in 2005 at eCost.com to $173.1 million compared with $178.5 million in 2004. PC Mall Inc., No. 29 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, operates eCost.com. The retailer merged in January with PFSweb Inc.
