Disney isn’t playing around with interactive games

Disney Online, a business unit of The Walt Disney Co., is more than doubling the size of its interactive games service.

Disney`s Game Café launched in November with an initial suite of 20 popular games from Disney Online, PopCap Games, PlayFirst Inc. and FreshGames. Now Disney is working with more publishers and game developers, including WildTangent Inc., PlayFirst, HipSoft, Sandlot Games and iWin, to add 35 new titles.

The selection of new games ranges from puzzle and word games to action-oriented, arcade-style games to classic games. "We are following up our launch with a significant expansion," says Steve Parkis, vice president of premium products at Disney Online. "As we near 60 titles, the site is delivering a more diverse selection of games." Games on Disney`s Game Café are available for download with prices ranging from $9.95 to $19.95.

Disney Online, No. 55 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, operates one of the web’s most frequently visited entertainment sites, which averages about 19 million unique visitors per month, according to comScore Networks Inc.
