KB Toys moves online fulfillment into former eToys facility
KB Toys next month will take over the 444,000-square-foot warehouse of defunct Internet toy retailer eToys, making the Blairs, VA, facility the fulfillment center for its own online unit, KBKids.com.
Pittsfield, MA-based KB Toys says it will hire more than 150 full-timers to staff the facility and as many as 300 seasonal employees to handle the flow of holiday traffic. “This facility is the perfect fit for KBKids.com,” says Bob Hassen, KB Toys’ vice president of distribution. “Its state-of-the-art equipment will allow us to meet the needs of our current business model, as well as support future growth.”
Under the terms of the deal, KB Toys acquired all of the center’s operational assets from eToys and is leasing the building. The current KBkids.com fulfillment center in Danville, KY, will once again become a fulfillment center for the more than 1,300 KB Toys stores. KB Toys had previously acquired several assets of the bankrupt eToys at auction, including inventory, trade names, logos, URLs and trademarks.
