J. Crew’s 1st half web sales are up 25% while overall sales are flat
Internet sales at J. Crew Group Inc. totaled $46.3 million in the first half of this year, up 25% from last year’s first half total of $36.9 million, the company reported today. For the first half, Internet sales represented 13.8% of J. Crew’s total sales of $335.7 million vs. 11% of last year’s first half sales of $337 million.
In July, Internet sales totaled $4.7 million, 10.4% of July’s total revenue of $45.1 million. July 2001’s web sales totaled $4.5 million. J. Crew’s total revenue in July was down 6% from $47.9 million in July 2000.
J. Crew reports shipping and handling fees separately. For the first half, shipping and handling totaled $14.9 million, down from $15.4 million in last year’s first half. July’s S&H fees totaled $1.8 million, down from $2.2 million in July 2000. Internet and catalog sales combined totaled $100.9 million in the first half, down from $110.9 million a year earlier and $10.9 million in July, down from $13.4 million a year earlier.
J. Crew Group is a retailer of men`s and women`s apparel, shoes and accessories. The company operates 113 retail stores, the J. Crew catalog, jcrew.com, and 41 factory outlet stores.
